I haven’t been great at keeping up with my book-blogging lately, but it’s getting into Rocky Mountain Book Award shortlist season! I’m currently on the committee for the Rocky Mountain Book Awards, which is an Alberta reader’s choice book award for grade four to seven kids. (If you’re in grades four to seven and read at least five of the twenty books on the short list, you get to vote and pick the winner!)
That twenty-book short list–ten fiction and ten non-fiction Canadian books published in the previous two years–has to be selected. It means that I spend November to May reading vast quantities of new Canadian middle-school books. Right now, we’re at the point where the boxes of potential books are still arriving from the publishers. (I would be lying if I said I didn’t open each box with great glee!)
I’m about halfway through my current stack–I’ve got good intentions to blog what I’m reading, for what it’s worth. I’ve got a couple favourites already!
