First of all, it’s Summer Blog Blast Tour time again in the kidslitosphere! Head over to Chasing Ray for a daily rundown of who’s being interviewed where and other such neat things. You will find things like, for example, today: Andrew Mueller at Chasing Ray, Kekla Magoon at Fuse Number 8, Carrie Jones at Writing & Ruminating, Amber Benson at Little Willow, Greg van Eekhout at Shaken & Stirred, and a bonus interview of Lisa Yee over at Into the Wardrobe.
And speaking of which, Fuse #8’s poll of the top 100 picture books is complete! Not only is it an excellent list in its own right, but there are all sorts of fascinating tidbits, history and links about each book in the individual posts. How can you go wrong with a list containing such a diverse array of awesomeness as the Paperbag Princess, Bread and Jam for Frances, The Arrival and Scaredy Squirrel? (Not to mention Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible No Good Very Bad Day, Goodnight Moon, Owl Moon, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Olivia, Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type, Flotsam, Zoom At Sea and Where the Wild Things Are, to name a few more of my own favourites. (Bonus points to anyone who can identify all four Canadian books in the list of a hundred!) Although, to be honest, I could have put half the list here.
And in the land of adult books (specifically, historical LGBT fiction), I knew Sarah Waters had a new book out and I knew it took place in the 1940’s, but nobody told me it was a GHOST STORY. I am going to have to get my hands on a copy forthwith!
